Why Should You Have A Morning Routine Checklist?
Not everyone has a morning routine checklist. If you’re one of those people and are wondering why you should have one, there are a couple of important reasons which I’ll explain below.
Having A Morning Routine Checklist Makes You More Productive

If you are trying to increase your productivity, having a morning routine checklist can help a lot! By knowing exactly what you want to get done, you spend less time thinking about what is needed. You can go from one task to the next without the added time to decide your next steps.
You will also feel more productive by accomplishing the tasks on your checklist which will encourage increased productivity throughout the day.
Being Organized Can Reduce Your Stress
I know for me personally, when I don’t have a plan for my day I can sometimes feel stressed. If you have to try to remember all the things you want to get done off the top of your head, it can be stressful trying not to forget anything.
A morning routine checklist can streamline your whole morning lowering the chance for something stressful to arise.
Having A Morning Routine Checklist Will Instill Good Habits
We all want to create good habits so that we can get everything we want done without even thinking about it! By creating a morning routine checklist and following it, you ingrain these habits into your day which will also help you to instill good habits in other areas of your life since you already have a system of doing so.
Having A Morning Routine Checklist Helps With Personal-
Development
Having a morning routine can help you with personal development by building good habits, improving your time management, and increasing your productivity plus by improving your overall mental health.
The more you follow your checklist, the better you become in all these areas of your life. You can even create checklists for your night routine, your daily to-dos, and the list goes on!
Having A Morning Routine Checklist Can Help You Save Time

By planning out exactly what you want to do with a morning routine checklist, you can save time not only because you’re spending less time in the morning figuring out what you need to do, but also because by doing the same thing every day, you will begin to get your checklist done faster and faster.
What Should Be On Your Morning Routine Checklist?

For the most part, everyone will have different things on their morning routine checklists. There are a few things that are good for everyone to put on their checklists though.
Ideal Wake Up Time
By planning out the time you’d like to wake up, you are creating a schedule for yourself which will help you decide what you will do the rest of your day. Your wake-up time doesn’t have to be early. If you are not a morning person, planning to wake up at 9:00 am every day could be best for you.
Make Your Bed
They say you feel more productive when you make your bed in the morning. I agree with this even though I don’t always remember to make mine. Let me tell you though, getting into a nicely made bed at the end of the night is wonderful.
Stay Off Your Phone For the First Hour

This is a hit or miss for some. If you need your phone for a podcast, reading, meditation, a workout video, etc., then I think it isn’t too bad to use your phone in the first hour. The main reason you want to stay off your phone for the first hour is to stop any negativity from getting in your head.
I don’t check my messages, go on social media, or read any emails for at least an hour each day. I find that this is the best way to ensure that I have a clear head and I can get everything I need to do before work!
Time For Self-Care
If you wake up early enough before you have plans, adding in some time for self-care can be very beneficial to add to your morning routine checklist, Whether that is going for a walk, putting on a face mask, or drinking some tea and reading a book taking some time for yourself will leave you recharged, refreshed and ready for the day.
Hydration

It is very important for us to stay hydrated. When you prioritize hydration first thing in the morning, you set your body up to feel good the rest of the day. You also ensure that you will be able to drink all the water your body will need throughout the day.
Breakfast
Personally, I am a big proponent of breakfast. It’s my favorite meal! Making yourself something healthy and full of protein will give you the energy you need to have a productive day. One tip I find helpful to remember is that if you eat carbs first thing in the morning, it will most likely make you feel more tired throughout the day.
Positive Affirmations
I think the best time to recite your positive affirmations is first thing in the morning. You want to set your day up for success.
A little confidence boost before you start your day will help you to move through it more confidently. This is definitely something you’ll want to add to your morning routine checklist!
Take Time To Reflect On What You’re Grateful For
Gratitude is such a beautiful thing, especially if you’re remembering what you’re grateful for every morning. Start your day off on a positive note and if your day is going south, remembering those things you’re grateful for could help you get through it!
Planning

I like to plan out my day each morning. I find that this helps me to get all my tasks done and be more intentional with my time. Not everyone is going to want to put planning on their morning routine checklist but for me, this sets my day off on the right foot!
How Do You Make A Morning Routine Checklist?
There are many options you can use to make your morning routine checklist. You can go simple and write it out on a piece of paper or in a notebook. If you have a planner, you can add this daily or create something you can make once and reuse. A whiteboard could be a good option if you have one of those where you can see it every morning. My personal favorite place to store my morning routine checklist is my Notion Database.
